Feeling the hurt inside,

Wanting to heal the pain,

The concern so deep in my heart,

Yet, fearing I'll be in the way.

I feel the disappointment,

The remorse and the overwhelming fear.

My heart reaches out for you,

I want you to know I'm here.

I understand the confusion

And the lostness felt inside;

The torments in your heart

Your appearance tries to hide.

I know the feeling of loneliness,

And the fear of being alone.

Searching so hard to find a friend,

Only to find they're all gone.

The tightness that grows inside

When that personal fear overtakes,

The continuous painful thought

That everyone sees your mistakes.

The relief you feel down deep,

When alas, you are by yourself.

No more reaching out for others

Only to find there is no help.

Now, your feelings can be free

To escape from deep within;

The ones you have held captive,

Beneath the outer skin.

It is restorative to have some time

Set aside just for you,

To sort and search your feelings,

To discover the best path through.

Yet, always know inside,

If ever a friend you need....

Just look into my eyes, Tita;

A friend you will find indeed!

This poem is dedicated to a very special individual who has had a great impact on my life. She has faced many challenges, but she continues to be an overcomer.
